PLATELET RICH PLASMA

WHAT IS IT?

Doctors have learned that the body has the ability to heal itself. Platelet-rich plasma therapy is a form of regenerative medicine that can harness those abilities and amplify the natural growth factors your body uses to heal tissue. Plasma is the liquid portion of whole blood. It is composed of largely of water and proteins, and it provides a medium for red blood cells, white blood cells and platelets to circulate through the body. Platelets are blood cells that cause blood clots and other necessary growth healing functions. Platelet activation plays a key role in the body’s natural healing process.

WHO BENEFITS MOST FOR THE SERVICE?

PRP stimulates collagen and elastin production which thickens and tightens thinning skin, effectively smoothing wrinkles and fine lines. Because it boots collagen, is also a great treatment for improving overall skin texture and tone. Its particularly good for people who suffer from rosacea or acne.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy uses injections of a concentration of the patients own platelets to accelerate the healing of skin tissue.  PRP injections are prepared by drawing the patients own blood and running it through a centrifuge to concentrate the platelets. These activated platelets are then injected directly into your skin with a needle or uses in combination with micro needling. This releases growth factors that stimulate and increase the number of re-parative cells your body produces.

WHAT TO EXPECT OVERALL?

The nurse will draw blood from your arm with a needle. Then place the tube of blood into the centrifuge for a few minutes to spin and separate the platelets and blood cells. Then reinject the plasma (liquid gold) back into the skin with a single syringe or using a micro needling tip to puncture the skin with multiple holes to channel the plasma back into the skin at the same time skin resurfacing.
